Never Meant to Last...

Please remember me, happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin, the time when
We counted every black car passing

Your house beneath the hill and up until
Someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range, a piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention

But please remember me, fondly
I heard from someone you're still pretty
And then they went on to say that the Pearly Gates
Had some eloquent graffiti

Like 'We'll meet again' and 'Fuck the man'
And 'Tell my mother not to worry'
And angels with their great handshakes
But always done in such a hurry

And please remember me, at Halloween
Making fools of all the neighbors
Our faces painted white, by midnight
We'd forgotten one another

And when the morning came I was ashamed
Only now it seems so silly
That season left the world and then returned
And now you're lit up by the city

So please remember me, mistakenly
In the window of the tallest tower
Call, then pass us by but much too high
To see the empty road at happy hour

Gleam and resonate just like the gates
Around the Holy Kingdom
With words like, 'Lost and found' and 'Don't look down'
And 'Someone save temptation'

And please remember me as in the dream
We had as rug burned babies
Among the fallen trees and fast asleep
Beside the lions and the ladies

That called you what you like and even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see a trapeze
Swinger high as any savior

But please remember me, my misery
And how it lost me all I wanted
Those dogs that love the rain and chasing trains
The colored birds above their running

In circles round the well and where it spells
On the wall behind St. Peter
So bright on cinder gray in spray paint
'Who the hell can see forever?'

And please remember me, seldomly
In the car behind the carnival
My hand between your knees, you turn from me
And said the trapeze act was wonderful

But never meant to last, the clowns that passed
Saw me just come up with anger
When it filled with circus dogs, the parking lot
Had an element of danger

So please remember me, finally
And all my uphill clawing
My dear, but if I make the Pearly Gates
I'll do my best to make a drawing

Of God and Lucifer, a boy and girl
An angel kissin' on a sinner
A monkey and a man, a marching band
All around the frightened trapeze swinger

Nah nah nah
Nah nah nah
Nah nah nah

- The Trapeze Swinger - Iron & Wine

I seriously think I could listen to Sam Beam every single day and not tire of his lyrics, voice, and gorgeous songs. So comforting. So sweet. Close your eyes, and let the song take you somewhere else.

getting through crunch time...

things that have saved me...

1. DEXTER - i am getting ready to watch season 3 and i love it. who would have thought a show about a serial killer would be sooooo good?
2. Pomplamoose

not only do they do amazing covers, but they also have some kick ass originals.
3. Bloglines - i read many blogs. photographers, writers, fashion lovers, home decorators, comedians, and just good ol' people..love technology. they feel like the electronic version of magazines, but better.
4. Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer - nuff said.
5. Pandora
6. Weeds - another great show. i am also getting ready to start season 3 of this bad boy, too bad netflix only has the first 2 seasons on insant view! arg!
7. YouTube - who can't waste a few moments a day on here?
8. my boys - they both support me and make me take breaks when i need it. we always have such a blast together.
9. Sleep - i love it, when i get it. usually later than i would like, usually never enough. but man, there is nothing better than a good rest.
10. awesome cleints. they allow us to be creative. they trust us. it means more than i can say.
11. our families - love time with them. always a great re-fresher for me.
12. our friends - never enough time with them, but the time we do have is cherished. had dinner with brad and kurt a few weeks ago. love talking about current events and of course great memories. missing many friends and hope to see some of them after crunch time.
13. nutty dogs - they drive me crazy about 90% of the time, but that 10%... lol
14. our home. i love coming home. i love lighting candles. i love sitting at our dinning room table. i love taking a bath in our big ol' bathtub. this house is so us and i can't wait to keep working on it to make it "ours" even more.
15. drive and motivation. i def. have a love/hate relationship with this one. i am so thankful that i have it, but at times i wish i could shut it off. it needs to calm down a few notches. i need to quit pushing myself so hard.

i am looking forward to the holidays.
i plan on taking a few days off for both thanksgiving and christmas.
very excited about this.

some cute stuff:
the other night phoenix and i were talking about how robbie was so excited about "up" coming out on dvd this week. i said something about it being a great cartoon and phoenix said, "mom, it is not a cartoon, it is an illustrated movie."

that same night, he dropped a grape on the floor and i saw him pick it up quick and put it in his mouth. i said, "5 second rule!" and he said, "no, it is now a 15 second rule." i asked him, "says who?" and he said, "the government."

tonight i was telling robbie that there was an ad for men's cologne in a magazine i had and it was yummy stuff. i told him he should get some and he would smell like a real paul bunyan. (i tease him about that all the time due to his obsession with plaid shirts) Well, Phoenix rubbed some on himself and he asked me if he smelled like "paul BOWMAN".

last night:
i was making coffee and set part of the filter basket on the counter. phoenix turned around after i picked it back up and said, "oh my gosh! that looks like robbie!" i turned around and saw this:
robbie!
we all got a pretty good laugh outta this one.

phoenix played photographer for a bit and got this one while i was cooking dinner:
making dinner

we bought a bottle of sparkling grape juice so we could do a toast to fall. phoenix was so very excited to drink out of a wine glass and of course you could tell he felt super cool and grown up. he kept wanting to do a cheers.
fall celebration

phoenix is reading very well and he pulled this cheese outta the fridge to eat. when he sounded out the name, you should have seen his face. he was shocked after saying it. it was too cute. it was a combination of that is so funny and oh my gosh am i going to get in trouble for just saying that?!?!
heluva

of course you had to be there for this kinda stuff, but i wanted to document, as always. :o)

hope all is well. tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!
